In 2011, something exciting happened in my city. Comedian Adam Sandler was filming a movie in the Boston area and chose the vacant Everett High School as the set. Summer vacation had just begun and the word travelled quickly about the action, as all news does around here. Being a small city on the outskirts of Boston, Everett is far from the first place that comes to mind when thinking of the movies, so this was huge news. Camera in hand, I hurried down to investigate.
The movie wasn't such a hit, but unbeknownst to me at the time, this was my first taste of photojournalism. Proud of my work, I shared the images I shot with a local newspaper. A few weeks later, I found myself getting hired for actual assignments.
Fast forward to today, and I have captured hundreds of events throughout the Boston area. In 2014, I graduated from Montserrat College of Art where I studied fine art and art history. In 2016, I had gained enough traction to open up my own business, Katy Rogers Art Studio. I am pleased to serve a wide array of clients everyday.
